Edward (Ed) J. Sanborn, 83, of Munnsville, NY, passed away on July 23, 2024, at Crouse Hospital in the arms of his devoted wife.

He was born on March 18, 1941, in Oneida, NY, son of the late John and Katherine (Kampf) Sanborn.

Ed attended Stockbridge Central Schools and later went on to serve in the United States Army, joining in 1961. He was especially proud to be a part of the Army 82nd Airborne Division as a parachute rigger.

Ed married Laurie (Cronk) Sanborn on July 18, 1987, in Racquette Lake.

He was an electrical planner with Niagara Mohawk for 35 years, as well as owning and operating Sanborn Heating and Air Conditioning for over 50 years. 

Ed managed and played for Snyder Construction softball team for many years, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

You could find Ed out hunting, snowmobiling, or going for a scenic drive. He loved his many dogs throughout the years (especially his buddy Jackson,) scratch offs, John Wayne and old western movies. Ed and Laurie enjoyed traveling and vacationing around New England together, especially their annual trips to Maine.

Ed is survived by his loving wife Laurie Sanborn, son Scott Sanborn, daughter Paige Garry, grandson Nicholas Sanborn, siblings; Donald “Ox” Sanborn, Sandra “Witch” (James) Zeller, Jerry “Garb” (Lorraine) Sanborn, Sandra Sanborn (wife of Thomas ”Sheep”), Gary (Laurie) Snyder, and Colleen Marshall, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter Loni Sanborn, and brother Thomas Sanborn. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses at Crouse Hospital on the Cardiac Floor and at Crouse Community Center. A special thank you to Hollis Thurston for all you’ve done over the years and the many talks you and Ed had over coffee.

A celebration of life will be held on September 15, 2024 at Carlon Field in Munnsville, NY, from 12:00pm until 5:00pm. 

Interment will be at Peterboro Cemetery, held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers friends may consider donating to Clear Path For Veterans, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Ed’s name.
